How To Become A Christian
The decision
to become a Christian is the most important decision you will ever make. It is a personal decision. No one can
make it for anyone else.
The steps to having a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ include:
1.
RECOGNIZE THAT GOD IS YOUR CREATOR.
|
|
God created
everything about the earth and everyone upon the earth. Because He is our Creator, we are responsible and accountable to Him
(Genesis 1:26-27; 2:4-7; Hebrews 11:1-3 & 6). |
2. REALIZE THAT GOD CREATED YOU FOR A PURPOSE.
|
|
God created
each one of us for a purpose: to honor and glorify Him alone as God, through obedience and gratitude (Genesis 2:15-17; Romans
1:21). |
3. UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO GOD.
|
|
Each one of
us is responsible to God to fulfill the purpose for which He created us. Because we do not fulfill that purpose we have alienated
ourselves from God (Genesis 3:16-19; Romans 5:12-14) |
4. REALIZE THAT YOU, PERSONALLY, ARE A SINNER BY NATURE AND BY CHOICE.
|
|
God gave the
Ten Commandments to show us that we need His mercy and grace. You cannot perfectly keep each one of those commands all your
life. For example, the first command says that we must worship Him and Him alone. That means that nothing is ever more important
to us than God alone. None of us can fulfill that command (Romans 3:10-20; Exodus 20:1-17). |
5. BELIEVE AND RECEIVE THE FACT THAT JESUS CHRIST LIVED PERFECTION FOR
YOU AND DIED FOR YOUR SINS.
|
|
Jesus Christ never sinned -- not even once! Yet, He died for sin. Whose
sin did He die for? He died for the sins of those:
- who would believe in His death, burial,
and resurrection.
- who would recognize their sin and
grieve over it.
- who would desire and purpose to turn
away from their sins.
- who would ask and receive forgiveness
of their personal sins based on the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
- who would turn their lives over to
Jesus Christ as Lord.
